Is the main deck on the koningsham a good location

This really depends on which stateroom and what's above it. If you check on CruiseDeckPlans.com you can look over on the right side of the page for Konigsdam and find Cabin Guru. The Cabin Guru lets you click on a stateroom and see what is below it and what is above it. In the case of the Main deck, it can't show you what is below it because it is a crew deck, and they don't give out that information. Above much of the Main Deck is Plaza deck where pretty much everything on the ship happens. Performances, Main Dining Room, all the music venues. So if you decide to book on the Main Deck, stay to the rear of the ship on the starboard side. This is under the main dining room so all the noise from above should be done by the time you want to go to bed and won't start up again until the next day since they use the upstairs for breakfast. If you were to go on the port (left side if you are facing forward) at the aft, you would be under the kitchen. Don't want to be there.

One gamble is the crew public rooms downstairs. This is why that deck is less expensive. Because we just don't know. There is a crew bar, dining room and other public rooms and they won't get going until late at night when the crew gets off so you hope that you miss those. I wish I could give you some direct experience but we always book verandahs. Worth it to us to always know what is above and below us. Did a cruise (way back when) under the pool. What a huge mistake. The crew started dragging around chaise lounges to clean and get ready for the day at 5:00 am. You would not believe the racket. I think you would experience the same thing under the kitchen. Good luck.

We are on her right now, and the Doctors advice is spot on
Interesting! Time has passed but you appear to have ‘jumped ships’ lol I thought you used to be diehard Princess cruisers, Red!? Nice to ‘see’ you.
We sailed the Koningsdam June 3rd this year. Lovely classic style ship and really liked our obstructed cabin 4042 on Beethoven. Yes, unobstructed would be preferred but you get a full length window with a clear view and, on the more than double sized veranda, the flatter top of the lifeboat(not the higher pulley arms), well below sight level….and save hundreds! Feared it might be noisy by the entrance to the elevators but very quiet. If anything, for those with low mobility, it’s a heck of a long way to the dining room, a bit pinchy for two to move at the end of the beds but that may be the same in other rooms, and late night when you leave your cabin, the smoke from the casino tends to smack you in the face from the floor below (wish HAL would have corrected that on their newer designs)….. really, nothing major.

Seamom,
Nice to see you too.

We did the South Pacific on the Koningsdam, this Feb 18..March 22.
Sorry we missed you

About those ships.. we have always done Princess, HAL, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Cunard.

But usually the group cruises were on Princess.

We just got off the Island Princess a few weeks ago . The “Fire and Ice cruise”.
This time it is The Voyage of the Vikings”, so we will do some of the same ports.

I did write a diary of the last couple of cruises, but they are easily buried on this board lol

And I will attempt to do the same thing on this cruise.
But you have to be fast to see them.. the first page fills up with lightening speed

Remember that flower arrangement on the ship? That was a real funny time.

How could I forget that flower arrangement… or the scavenger hunt… or the balloons….. we should catch up! Still make me chuckle!
