Eastern Caribbean on the Explorer 9/19/04 & then transatlantic on the Brilliance 4/29/05.

How long do you take planning, gathering and packing for a cruise?

The whole process from begining to end could take up to one year. The wife and I go shopping for supplies, like sun tan block, solarcaine etc about 2 weeks before and one week prior our packed up luggage is sitting by the front door.

So, are you the type of person who prefers a smooth sailing, or a rocky sailing?

a little bit of both.....smooth sailing during the daytime so you can enjoy the sun and poolside, a little rocky at night so you can realize you are still on a ship...plus you get awesome sea legs when you get off the ship in port..

What music do you prefer to hear poolside? A) Piped in radio type B) Steel Drum C) Calypso?

I prefer Calypso!! Everytime I hear it playing during everyday life I escape for a moment or two to the ultimate sunshine and blue skies!!

Which do you prefer...Sea Days or Ports?

Love the ports. We have found that we don't always stay in the ports all day though, as we like to get back to the ship when all is quiet and really enjoy the pool area.

What is the best City to embark from?

Vancouver! Because there is so much to do there if you stay a few days before or after your cruise, plus you get to go under the Lion's Gate BVridge if you're heading up to Alaska!

What's your favorite towel animal your stateroom attendant has left you?

Do you try new and exotic drinks onboard or do you have just a few faves that you stick to?

I got hooked on a new drink while I was on board. I wouldn't call it "exotic", but it was new to me. The husband and I hooked up with another couple and they introduced me to the Mojito. Very refreshing and tasty! Of course, I had some of the old favs such as the pina colada, margarita, mai thai, etc...

What is your favorite RCCL cruise ship?

My favorite area of the ship is a walk on the outer balcony just after the formal dinner. My favorite public room wolud have to be the casino(love the clang of the coins!).

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream aboard the ship?

LOL! I have an embarassing moment for each RCL ship I have been on. One embarassing moment was announcing (rather vocally) that I was about to use the washroom in our room on Voyager when I thought only my sister was at the door, but our room attendant was there as well. On Radiance, I was singing on an elevator and on Serenade just 4 weeks ago, I knocked over the bucket/wine stand thing behind me in the dining room and it made a loud crash and ice went everywhere. Our waiter, our assistant waiter AND the head waiter made sure it was quite a distance away from me the next night!

QUESTION: Can you name all the ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet without checking any other sources (i.e. the website!)

Adventure, Enchantment, Empress, Grandeur, Jewel, Majesty, Mariner, Monarch, Radiance, Rhapsody, Sovereign, Serenade, Splendour, Vision, Voyager.

For me, it was getting the tickets for the trip!!

The question - In sharing a room with my husband and 8 yrs old son, I found that my patience wore a lot thinner - faster.

A long walk on the open decks did wonders for me.

How long did your patience last with your roommate(s), or, did you learn something about them you never knew?

Sailed with hubby and 19-year old nephew last year on the Voyager. I already know everything about hubby but learned, the hard way, that dear nephew can't fall asleep unless the TV is on. And we, of course, can't fall asleep unless it's quiet. My patience lasted until day 6; not bad for being with two guys 24/7.

When and where is your next cruise?

On the Radiance this past May....in Chops....due to the fact that 3 of us were celebrating birthdays that month and one was "along" for the ride...being a January baby! They brought us strawberry desserts, champagne and of course did there singing for us.....we were also celebrating one anniversary in the same group...lots for just 4 people!

Question: If cost were no object, would you opt for the Royal Suite just because or an aft balcony, or a hump room? or pick another.

I would go with the most expensive and lavish suite I could find if cost were no object.

Is this the last post on this thread?
