I checked the Book Modify screen today and found that Carnival had assigned us a cabin #. We booked 4a GTY and were upgraded to 5a on the Riviera deck (hooray for portholes!!!). I'm sooooo excited.. only six more weeks!!!

Have you ever had a porthole? I'd like to see some pictures too when you get back if possible! I'm going on the Sensation in 100 days! LOL We booked a OV GTY cabin in May. So we'll see what we come up with. I've been trying that book/modify thing every day and still no information :( Oh well maybe eventually! And hey you still could get another upgrade too before you sail. So be too set on that cabin.

Could you please describe the Booking Modify method for me? I have tried to find my cabin through the Kelly Method, which did yeild a room. I would love to double check to see if the KM worked. Thanks.

chooch:

You log into Carnival and go under "My Reservations" and pull up your reservation information. Then go to the address bar and type in www.carnival.com/BookModify.aspx
This will bring up your reservation details. However, it does not show what cabin you are assigned to. If you were given a specific cabin assignment when you booked your cruise, it will show up there but if you booked a guarantee, more than likely it will say TBA (to be announced).

i used the formula, booked an is gty and was upgraded to a 4b, to me that isnt a very good upgrade. Was hoping for at least an oceanview. It showed our cabin number, not tba. Our Ta said the docs are in the mail, will check the back of the s&s sheet to see if this formula matches.

don't be too upset aileenw, you still have 33 days before you cruise, you still have plenty of time to be upgraded even more, even if it is a 4C, (inside- Upper Deck), I'd be happy with that. I'd also be happy with a 4B in your case, you're close to the info desk, lobby, and dining room at least, oh and not to mention the bottom floor where you get off the ship on the islands...... THAT would be wonderful when returning to the ship from a long exhausting fun day on the islands LOL. :grin, so where you're at as of right now, thats pretty cool I think. Hey don't be bummed too much, you know that no matter where your cabin is, that you will have a blast on the cruise!

I did all that last week...and found I has 1101 on the Miracle. Boy was I upset. Ok-i booked an oceanview garantee but I am a past cruiser many times over.. I also booked and paid for my cruise almost a year ahead of time so I didnt expect to get the first cabin right outside the show lounge.
But i checked again this week and they must have moved me because im no longer in that room but back to garanteed status.

FYI:

New Carnival policy began Aug. 3 for category guarantees -- stateroom will be assigned 7-8 weeks in advance, according to Cruise News Daily.
Apparently, it's true. We booked Ocean View guarantee on Holiday for Oct. 4, and yesterday -- 59 days in advance -- our cabin changed from "TBA" to E19 (Empress Deck). Carnival's website even accepted that cabin # for pre-voyage bon-voyage gifts ordered online, so it seems like a solid booking.

You don't have to type in the address bar. When you get to My Reservation, just click on the left side bar that says modify booking.

I've been checking mine since I read this post & just found our cabin #. We booked a OV GTY and rec'd a 6D cabin. Empress deck! WOW! We're under the galley though. Hope it's not too noisy in the am. Guess we could nap by the pool later though. :)

Am I missing something? I thought when reserving a guaranteed room you "might' get an upgrade but not to count on it. So a person should be upset if you DON'T get an upgrade or a good enough upgrade??

We booked an OV guarantee for our December cruise so should I be EXPECTING an upgrade?

Someone set me straight??

I say have no expectations. You may or may not be upgraded. Chances are you will, BUT don't expect it, don't be counting on it. That way when you get your cabin assignment if for some reason you were not upgraded you will not be disappointed. You should not be disappointed anyway if you are not upgraded. Lets say you book a 4B or 6B (Main Inside or Main OV)GTY, Then obviously that is what you WOULD be happy with, if for some reason you are not upgraded. So if you wouldn't be happy with that or you're expecting something better then that, then you might as well book a GTY for whatever you WILL be satisfied with if you are not upgraded. Say you're "expecting" at least a 6C GTY (Upper OV). Then book a 6C GTY, that way if you don't get upgraded you will be satisfied either way. Plus there's the possibility you could get upgraded to a 6D or even a CAT.11suite. But if you don't, oh well right? Because you booked for what you would be satisfied with in the first place, eh? Make sense?? :)

Our cruise in November we booked an OV GTY, which is saying we'd be fine with having just a 6A if thats all we could get. LOL We don't care as long as we get on the ship!

Thank you Kim, that is what I thought. We booked 6A guarantee's and will be perfectly happy with that!

You're welcome. It just baffles me when I see people "complaining" about booking a 6A GTY and aren't satisfied because they were EXPECTING an upgrade. Well people have to understand that the ship fills up and anything can happen with a GTY booking. So if you don't want a 6A THEN DON'T BOOK A 6A GTY! LOL ya know? LOL I don't get it. Yeah maybe its cheaper especially if you are upgraded. But in the case that you're not then you're spending your time complaining or just being disappointed that you were not upgraded. Well thats no fun. So I just say book for what you will be happy with, and don't expect anything. Only expect to have a good time if you are happy with your choices.

Good Night from Michigan...

I have been on 5 cruises. My first was a garantee inside. (I didnt know the differene between categories or upgrades-downgrades. After that first cruise I decided I need to know where my cabin willbe located. I was afraid of being by some noisy public place. Or under the disco. I am going Nowhere in October on the LEgend. its a weekend cruise so I took an oceanview garantee. When doing the method I see I am in cabin 1101 right next door to the lounge. Go figure. Its 2 nights--how bad can it be.

LOL serene, you still have a little bit before your cruise. I wouldn't be surprised if you get re-assigned to a different cabin before your cruise, anyway. And besides, you're right, its only 2 nights.. You'll be fine and have alot of fun anyway.
