I think I might be misunderstood about the formal requirements. I'm not suggesting that everyone dress in tux and gown. I was expressing my opinion on slobs who go into the dining room on formal night in shorts, jeans and other inappropriate wear on formal night and then proceed to sit at the table and blow their nose while people are trying to eat and generally act like pigs. It happens more than one would think.
I never meant to suggest anyone here would do such a thing, but IMO, people who DO do that ARE acting like peasants and pigs.
Someone else jumped on me and dared me to come up to them and say something to them...well, I would never do that either. I think that's as tacky as the person who disregards Carnival's requirements.
As far as people carting on their beer kegs and whiskey jugs...I think that's tacky too. But, hey, that's just me. I'm not the one who will get embarrassed when they get caught and have to turn it over to the line.
I've seen people get escorted off the ship at the next port for violating Carnival's rules. If someone who has never cruised before is asking for advice and opinions, I think encouraging them not to break the rules is better than teaching a new cruiser right off the bat how they can break the rules.
I go on alot of cruises mainly because my brother is an officer with a cruise line and I get to see and hear alot of what goes on.
