We set sail tomm. on the Conquest. Wondering if you guys have any recommendations on books based in the Caribbean or on a cruise ship?

One of my favorite books is "A Salty Piece of Land" by Jimmy Buffett. Couldn't put it down.

The Oxford Book of Caribbean Short Stories
Islands in the Stream -Hemingway
The Old Man and The Sea - Hemingway

Hehe.... you can't go wrong with Hemingway.. Or Jimmy Buffett for that matter. Being that my dear mother is a Parrothead, she would definitely suggest ANY of Jimmy's books.

Jimmy is really a good author. I have read "Tales From Margaritaville", "A Pirate Looks at Fifty" and "Where is Joe Merchant" as well.

"A Salty Piece of Land" is the continuation of the short story "Take Another Road" From the book "Tales From Margaritaville". Tully Mars sure has some exciting adventures.

Another cruise related book is "Cruise Confidential: A Hit Below the Waterline" ; a 2008 travelogue by author Brian David Bruns describing the contract he worked with Carnival.

Don't believe Michael. He can't read. He only looked at the pictures........

But they were nice pictures. :)

I have also looked at the pictures in his "Parrotheads Handbook" which you can only get in his boxed set of CD's called Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads.

Skinny Dipping by Carl Hiaasen, a great read. About a guy who throws his wife overboard...she survives and the rest of the book is about her getting her slow revenge. Very entertaining with humor, suspense and fun!

Devils on the deep blue sea is all about the cruise companies and storied history behind the growth and business. It was very interesting.
