We are booked on the Fascination 4 night cruise. Anyone have an idea which night will be the Captain's Dinner? We visit #1Key West, #2 Cozumel, and #3 @ Sea. Thanks.

I sailed the Fascination a year ago and if I remember correctly, it is the night after pulling out of Key West.

We were just on the Fascination on the 1/31 4-night sailing and the formal night was on Tuesday night after being in Key West that morning.

Have a great time - we did!

I'm jealous!!! I have 268 to go!!! You'll have a wonderful time...the Fascination was my very first cruise 10 years ago when she was new. It's a great ship!

Hope you have a great cruise on the Fascination. I've been on her only once, about a year ago, and there were a LOT of men in tuxs. Most, however, will wear suit and tie, and at the least a jacket and tie.

A 'nice shirt and pants' is NOT considered formal in any sense of the word. That's what should be worn on any night other than formal. (I'm nice, too, but there's such a thing as dress code, and would be nice to adhere to it.)

Formal night on most Carnival cruises is the second night on board. ENJOY!

i should mention that the reason why perhaps no one was dressed up on the fasicnation in dec was because it was a 3 day bahamas criuse not a 4 day west carib

Lizard don't be jealous! You day will be here before you know it! :)

Thanks again Melissa.

I have decided I am done stressing myself over what to wear. We will wear what we think is appropriate and comfortable to us! It is a vacation after all...I shouldn't be getting myself so worked up!

Okay, I have to jump in with my 2 cents.

Yes, LF, it is a vacation, after all. BUT - the cruise line is pretty clear about what is appropriate for the formal nights. If you choose not to abide by their suggested attire, then you should, out of respect for fellow passengers, opt for the alternative dining on the formal nights.

I always try to follow the dress codes, whether I am on a cruise, in a fine restaurant, at a resort - I think that is fair to all concerned.

You look great Melissa! I will post some photos when we return.

Thank you for your 2 cents diverbl. I have heard what you have to say and it has been noted,.

In all honesty I am not interested in starting a debate here on this site as to what one should wear. I have seen this topic turn nasty on the other cruise sites and that is why I am here...it is peaceful.

We will be wearing appropriate clothing at all times...we do that in everyday life (we are adults). I am saying I am done beating myself up over what to wear. We are going on vacation and we are going to enjoy ourselves. I am not going to spend my entire vacation worrying about what others are thinking about my clothes.

Mostly i have seen lots of tuxes and fancy dresses on the 5 day or longer cruises... i myself love getting dressed up, and have done so on formal nights on the 7 day cruises.. for me though 3 days vacation just really isnt a vacation its nice getaway,,, and as long as i look sparkly im happy with that,,., but on the 7 day cruises i go all out black tie affair kinda deal....

dont worry about what others will think,, yes this turns into a big debate,, so lets not start that again ,... Enjoy yourself,,, and if you think you look good then thats all that matters,,, you and your friends are the only ones that have to see the pics OVER AND OVER Again :) lol

No debate. Just an FYI - In the "Capers", they post the appropriate dress code for the evening, right under the dining times.

LF - I"m sure you'll do just fine!!! I've been on everything from 2-day cruises to 7-day cruises and Melissa is right....the shorter cruises tend to be "less" formal, but people still do dress up. Have fun!!!

Can't wait to hear your report when you get back. :grin

Thanks Lizard!

DH and I went out shopping a little yesterday and picked up a couple of things for the cruise. I fully intend to have a marvelous time and I will be sure to report back!
