Robkabob is correct in that that bedbugs are becoming more common. With the increase of international traveler's, the number of cases are on the rise. What was once irraticated here in the states in the 1940's, it is now showing up quite often. Pest control companies used to get 2-3 calls a month for bedbugs now get about 20 a week or more. It's easy to pick them up while traveling. They like to live near the bedding and where people sleep so it's not suprising they were found in the pillows. Odds are they were in the mattress too or hiding. One can pick them up from leaving their luggage on the floors and bring them home. It's no easy task to get rid of them once you bring them home with you. It's a fallacy to associate bedbugs with bad hygenie as it occurs anywhere.
What to do - pack a flashlight. Turn all the lights off and look for any small bug movement in the corners and along the basebord. Check the closets. Then, get rid of that nasty bed spread (have the cabin steward take it from the room). Pull off the sheets and inspect for any black spotting on the mattress as evidence of them being there. Bring your own pillow from home if you are leary. Hang all clothes up. Bag up dirty laundry and keep it off the floor. If you must put your luggage on the floor, be sure you inspect it before packing your clothes up again.
As far as Lysol.. Sorry Melissa... it's WORTHLESS for treating or preventing Bedbugs. Sterifab would work but since it's a pesticide, it can't be brought onboard.
