Do You Fly In The Day Before Or Take Your Chances ........

Sometimes the need to fly in a day ahead is not an issue unless of course you are flying from upstate New York in the dead of winter.

So do you book a flight the day ahead and buy some pre cruise relaxing time or do you book your flight the morning of the cruise and hope your weeks forecast isn't snow, some more snow, or a lot of snow.

We always fly in the day before and try to get flights that arrive at a reasonable hour so we can time a dinner and have the evening to split a bottle of champagne and take a deep breath ( not to be confused with heavy breathing ) But actually anytime between November and April we are subject to luck of the draw as far as weather delays getting out of Dodge so it has become routine with us.

We fly in the day before as well. You never know if a flight will be late, or cancelled.
Not knowing any better, our first cruise we flew same day, arrived in Sydney at about 10.30am. But, we had taken the Princess shuttle option; we were herded to a bus outside the airport and told to wait...........and wait..........and wait..........until about 2.30pm, when the driver finally got in his seat and took us to the ship. It seems Princess in their wisdom had the bus waiting for all passengers from all over Australia to arrive before shuttling us to the ship. Lucky there was still some lunch left in the buffet.

Yes, a hundred times, yes! We always come in a few days before. Not only does it help us readjust our internal clock, but it gives us some time to explore the city. It makes the trip start a bit earlier and removes a lot of stress.

We were heading over to Britain, but were spending a week in Wales before the cruise when a plane crashed at San Francisco. it was nice to have that week wiggle room in order to get another flight.

I'm sorry you had such a long delay on the bus. We only had that happen once to us.

We now always fly in a night before for all cruises except for Europe then we would do two days before, find it so more relaxing to get there early , miss my very early cruises when I could take a taxi to the port living n NYC.
