I have rented cars in St. Martin as well and it's easy to do there and fun. I am more leery of renting a car in Cozumel although I know there are many that do that or rent a dune buggy. The risk for me would be the liability.

I'm curious in what it would cost to hire a driver for the day and do something similar to the bar hop on the other side. I might look into that option.

Donna, I have never been there, but this is from their websight: "Although reservations are not normally needed, to ensure availability, reservations are strongly recommended." With 5 ships in port, your call.
