Carnival Dream 9/11/2010 - I'm Dreaming of a Big Big Big Cats Cruise! The Sequel

Oh...as far as dates go....do we HAVE to go in September, or would late August or any time in October still work for everyone?

I know Greg has some concerns about cruising when his next paramedic class starts, but I think we probably could get just about everything to work.

I think there were no comment cards for a reason people. Maybe they get to many negative comments so they skip them all together..........

I did not have any horrible experiences (well maybe except for the waves crashing against the ship) but I did not have any wonderful experiences either (except for being with all of you).

Understand about the waves, but there is nothing the cruise line can do about that. Imagine what it would have been like if we had hit a storm. Taking that cabin, or any other like it is a financial decision, not of comfort / layout. Besides, had you done a better job of greasing the prop, the ride would have been smoother. Next time live up to the terms of your room contract...I should file a complaint for my cruise experience being unpleasant do to the rough ride and the lack of prop maintenance performed :D I've never heard of a price like what you guys got. I suppose you could have applied the OBC to an upgrade (easily an oceanview, and possibly a balcony), but Tommy made it quite clear the OBC was far more important than the upgrade...therefore, do what the rest of us do...blame Tommy ;D

Early to mid August would be great...just prior to Arrielle going back to school

I keep on searching for something that meets our needs....why isn't there something that is perfect for us????

It seems like we are looking for the following:
Depart out of Florida
7-10 days
Ports other than Grand Cayman/Ocho Rios/Cozumel or Nassau/St Thomas/St Martin/San Juan
(though a couple of those ports mixed with new ports is totally acceptable)
Some happy medium regarding # of ports
Relatively new ship
No preference on cruiseline
Cost is a factor but is not the sole factor

Is that about right for eveyone?

I wouldn't mind going back to San Juan, and of course there is always something to do in Cozumel and Ocho Rios (?) The eight day Freedom sailing I posted met all the criteria you posted.....

This isn't bad....but it has 2 ports that aren't my favorites....San Juan and Nassau. I don't mind staying on the ship in Nassau since it's usually so breezy....but San Juan is just so hot and humid....if this is what the group agrees on we'd have to find something good to do there other than dodge rats and go to the bar! Antigua would be new. It's been years since we went to Tortola. And of course, St Thomas has Louis Vuitton!

Oh....George.....what do you think about the AirTran/Southwest merger? I have a feeling we'll be paying baggage fees sometime soon on Southwest. Grrrrrr.

Southwest bought AirTran, so I doubt you will see the baggage fees...and possibly on AirTran as well. It will take the better part of a year for the deal to be finalized anyway...so don't expect anything to soon.

San Juan was a good time....Nassau is most certainly a relaxing day on the ship.

There was an article in our Sunday paper about this today - fees will be gone from AirTran. GREAT!!! That woud've been a savings of $110 this year.

It would be great....I find the fees so frustrating! I've said many times, raise my fare and don't charge me the fees, and I'd feel better about it.

Which is probably what Southwest already does. There fares always seem to be a little bit more than the average fare for us to fly to Florida. Rest assured the airlines eventually will get some kind of Speaking of add-ons...look at the imposed airport security / 9-11 fees that have been tacked on to each ticket...what a scam. With recent airport issues, I have my doubts we are any safer as a result of these fees.

sorry about the damage, yikes. We are thinking eastern or southern - not western. I think Aug will be too hot, but understand school schedule. Sept/Oct is good with us. We'd prefer RCCL. Shoot us an email. Greg and Barbara

Did anyone get their onboard credit check from our TA yet? Yesterday I got the check for the smaller amount that was due from the price adjustment, but not the onboard credit that wasn't credited....just curious!
