Carnival Dream 9/11/2010 - I'm Dreaming of a Big Big Big Cats Cruise! The Sequel

so does any one know where we are going? Is our cruise on its planned ports of call?

I looked on Carnival's site and could find nothing for this week. You would have thought they would have diverted ships from the eastern side this past week, but they didn't. St. Thomas / St. John / St. Marrten sustained substantial damage / flooding. I haven't looked yet, But Gaston is not supposed to be to far behind.

Everyone have safe travels. George I think we have to pass oh Wednesday night.
We havea HOA meeting tomorrow night so we will have one less day to finsih getting ready. Call us when you get in town though.

No problem, we are probably going to be pretty tired from the flight anyway, and we probably won't get to the hotel until after 6:00 pm. Thursday works best for us as well.

Looks like all is good for an eastern voyage. Gaston does not look like it's going to amount to much and the ports have re-opened with the damage pretty much all cleaned up. Here's something from a blog....

St. Maarten/St. Martin

NBC news reported earlier tshi week that "residents on the island of St. Martin/St. Maarten said Earl brought rain, wind and pounding seas on the coast, causing power outages and knocking down trees. There were also some reports of homes losing their roofs." A tourism spokesperson tells us that roads are now passable, all businesses are open, and the cruise ports on both the Dutch and French sides of the island are open; Serenade of the Seas is expected to visit St. Maarten today as scheduled.

St. Thomas and the U.S.V.I.

In the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Thomas, "Things look good," posted StormCarib member Ronnie. "Downed trees. One capsized boat that I can see. Slight wind."

A prepared statement from St. Thomas' Department of Tourism confirms that there are no reports of structural damage and that no loss of life or injury has been reported as a result of the storm. Clean up efforts are currently underway to remove road debris and fallen trees, and the territory's seaports have reopened. (Carnival Victory will be the first back, on Friday.)

DearMissMermaid, a regular poster on StormCarib, reprinted a note from a honeymooning couple on Virgin Gorda (no cruise ships on the schedule in the near future): "...blogs from around the islands are reporting significant damages due to high winds, rain and rising sea levels. Power is out across the islands and [there is] no potable water."

Alright all, my favorite time of the year is finally here. Heading out soon, not likely I will get another chance to check in. No matter your mode of travel, be safe, take it slow, and we'll see you all in a few days.....

IT'S CRUISE TIME....YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!

Hi Guys - off today getting last minute stuff done then we leave just before 1PM tomorrow. We'll be in Orlando by 3PM and then on our way down to Jupiter for the night. We can't wait to get to Florida and enjoy the time with the Big Cats!!

Just got back froma class at U of F called costal construction for FEMA. I always disliked sitting in class all day.
I work tomorrow and I am on vacation. Have most everything packed and ready to go. Slight problem Bubba won`t be able to get off work early and Hope can`t get off early. Bubba, Bobbie and Aurora will be riding with Hope and spending the night with us. If Bubba can`t get off till early than he will ride with Hope. That means Calum and I will be driving over early and checking in at Ron Jons and hitting the pool/water park.
George I am bringing your cooler and if room permits I bring a big cooler for around the pool. I am so ready for this cruise.

See you then Jim!

We'll be landing at 3PM tomorrow and heading south for Jupiter. On Friday we plan to casually get up, go to Publix, then head up 95 to meet everyone at RonJon's. I am thinking we'll arrive sometime close to 1PM or so.....see everyone then!
