Bow to stern flags...

Why do the Cruise ships only put up ther bow to stern flags when the ship is in its home port...Do the bow to stern flags mean any thing...
 
They aren't just flown when the ship is in their home port. It's also at sea too. The flags have different meanings and are used for communication. For example, when the pilot boards the ship to guide it into port, they fly the "H" flag. When the ship is in port you will see a blue flag with a square white center which means it's about to sail in the next 24 hrs. Also the call letters of the ship are spelled out and you'll see a combination of letters. There are flags for weather too.

I know on the Royal caribbean T shirts they sell on board,it has 5 flags on it to spell out ROYAL.....

I think the original poster meant the flags that are flown from bow to stern in the home port representing the nationalities of all the crew members on board.

And how is it spelled out on the shirts with 8 flags on them=?

How can they fly flags of ALL the crew members?????? There wouldnt be enough room...........

Im gonna have to look the next time.......never paid much attention to the flags............

JEEZ!!!!!!!! I guess there is a flag for every nation............I had no clue............live and learn!
