Booking shore excursions online

Has anyone had luck booking shore excursions through Carnival online? I clicked on the red button that said "book now" but I always get sent back to the page w/ the details of my cruise. Is there something that I'm forgetting to do? I'm 110 days out, so maybe it's too soon?

This is the second time this has come up. I tried to help the prior person, but I am 10 months out (I was more than 10 months out when I tried). I called Carnival about this and was told you had to be within six months. 110 days is less than six months, so all I can say is, you are not alone with this problem. And, I don't know the answer.
 
I was told that you can book at 180 days... You can not book an excursion by going to the excursion link.

Is this cruise registered on the main screen on carnivals web page....when you open the page your cruise and information will be on the right hand corner??

to do that you need to get to the home screen...top right hand corner will give you three options...click on profile then add booking number. Once all the information is added the cruise details is the only place where you can book a shore excursion. (you also need to pay for it at the time of booking.

The fun pass shouldnt have anything to do with booking excursions. When you go to the carnivals home page is your cruise listed on the top lef thand corner and tells you how many days you have left??

If it is-- then carnival doesnt have vendors contracts yet for your sailing
 
Yep, there are 105 days until my cruise. I never thought about the contracts...you're probably right about that. Thank you for your help!
 
On the question of booking on-line excursions, can I assume that you must have your cruise fully paid BEFORE you can book them?

Yes, the cruise must be paid for before they will let you book. Plus, you have to be no more then 180 day's out from your departure date.

I booked on-line, for our 6/25/05 Imagination cruise, and everything went smoothly.
 
Found this for you. Like posted above you just need a fully deposited cruise. It doesn't have to be paid in full just your deposit made and be within the 180 days.

How do I book and/or receive information on Carnival shore excursions?

You can visit www.carnival.com and browse through the shore excursions section online. Here you will find detailed information regarding the various shore excursions that may be offered at the destinations and ports your cruise visits. If you are within 180 days of sailing, have a valid booking number and have met all deposit requirements for each guest you will be booking shore excursions for, you may book online. Some excursions have a limited capacity so booking early may ensure that the excursions you want are available.

Upon boarding your ship, you will find a detailed listing of all available excursions for your cruise. You will also receive a shore excursion order form -- listing all of the prices, departure times and meeting places for each excursion -- as well as instructions on how to book these excursions onboard. Some of our ships offer an interactive television system, which allows you to book your excursions from the convenience of your stateroom.
 
I'm having the same problem. I've read these posts and everyhing requested hs been done. We even called Carinal and they were at a loss. After being on the phone with them for an hour they said they didn't know what was wrong ans suggested we try later. Any one get to the bottom of this?

If you got to the bottom of this, then so did I, because my bottom line is very similar to yours.
 
I still can't book online. Technical support can't help me. I'm just going to book when I get to the ship.
 
Blondie- I sugges that you try closer to your sailing. Lots of contract talks going on.. Canrival proble dont have contracts up and running for your cruise yet.

Also-- Have you checked with private vendors?? what ports are you heading to?
 
Do it today. We just booked our excursions today with no problems. As I said we called Carnival and they were no help just telling us to try again later. Well we tried again later and it worked.

Looks like we're not to the 'Bottom" of this but we did book em!
 
I tried again but I still wasn't able to book. I don't even have an "Add Shore Excursion" link on my profile, like it says I should have. My cruise is fully paid and I'm 83 days out, heading for Cozumel and Playa del Carmen.

I thought about independent bookings but since this is my first cruise, I think I want to go through Carnival.

Glad to hear the online system worked for someone. Maybe I'll get lucky!
 
You may want to just book directly with the shore excursions at each port. We were on the Miracle from June 26 - July 3 and booked all of our own adventures. Belieze was the best. There were 8 tourist, one guide and one boat driver out to the 2nd great barrier reef and to shark Ray Alley. We had an amazing time. As we were leaving hear came the shore excursion group. It was a double decker boat with about 200 people. I spoke to someone on that trip and she said it was very crowed and there was no one to point out things to them. Our guide took up all around the reef and pointed out things that we most likely would have missed and it was $20 cheaper per person and ours included lunch at Caye Caulker. So don't be afraid of independent bookings. When I got my credit card it was actually a company in Pennsylvania!

I know it is scary your first cruise, not knowing what to expect, but we learned to never book through the cruise lines. Much cheaper to just decide ahead what you want to do, get off the ship and either book from a vender by the dock, or just get a taxi. When we were on Grand Caymen, a taxi driver told us thank you for doing it this way, it is better for the local independants and the economy for the island if we don't use cruise ship exursions. You pay less, they get more, makes sense. If you are still nervous remember this, on these islands, their whole livelyhood depends on taking care of the cruise tourists, they want you back. Some islands, we calculated, have more than 10,000 tourists on any given day, and I have alwasy been impressed with how well they do it. Happy sailing
