We are two couples with adjoining rooms. Does the partition between the balconeys come down?
We're cruzin out in Jan 06. It'd be great to have a double wide balconey!
None of us have been on Grandeur or, for that matter, RCI. Any secrets or tips to pass on?
Anything is appreciated.

I was on the Grandeur about a year and 1/2 ago. I don't remember much about the balcony partitian on that particular ship but your best bet would be to contact RCCL and ask them if they can do it for you. Regardless of what they tell you on the phone, be sure to ask once you get on the ship as well. By the way, we've been on 4 cruises and that one was the best so far.

Unfortunately, I never heard of any cruise line removing a balcony partition. While they are designed for semi-privacy, they are also designed to be permanent. This could also be viewed as a safety issue because removing the partition might expose framework or jagged edges. RCI and other lines have their hands full with passengers turning their balconies into the party zone. They may also view a "double-wide" as magnet for such parties. Often most balcony tomfoolery (among all the other tomfoolery) occurs on the last night because people think they cannot be tossed off the ship. LOL.

Check out the other strings on Grandeur by doing a search. You can also check out www.cruiseclues.com and select the Grandeur. There are photos, menus, reviews, etc.

Good luck and have a great cruise!

I know that the balconies on the aft can be opened up. I sailed in an aft cabin on the Enchantment, same class as Granduer and the balcony partitions did open. The cabin steward had to do it and the partition would swing around. We had friends in the cabin next to us and we were able to have twice as much room with the partition opened.

Just back. We had connecting rooms and the steward said they most definately will NOT open the partitions for "safety reasons." Never expalined what was safer about them being closed, but they will not open them.
