We were on that same itnerary, it is great!

In St Thomas we did the KonTiki boat tour. Is all you can drink rum punch and they give you a short ride to a beach, and you can look through the glass bottom of the boat in one area to see the fish and such. They park on the beach for a while to play around. A steel drum band plays and gets everyone dancin on the way back. We had a blast!

In Barbados, http://www.theboatyard.com/. We booked the snuba through the cruise line, and it took us there. Looked like a great place to camp out for the day on your own. Lots of activites, and not real far from the ship docks. We also did the Jolly Roger cruise. Definately a good time!! We are going to do that again for sure! On the way back, we cruised past the cruise ships and actually had people on all the ships doing the YMCA and other dances with us!

Enjoy !

i spent a week in St, Martin last year and when i sail on adventure in aug we are stopping there
if you have kids a trip to the airport is a most my family loved the thrill of sitting literally right behind the jet engines as the took off and when the planes land they come with in 15 feet of your head my family was not to kean on this at first but loved the experience and there is some great bars right there, if you are looking for beach head to Bikini Beach on the french side, yes it is crowded but it is big and by far the best beach on the lsland, orient beach is also good, you cant go wrong with almost any beach on the french side, if you want good food that is the side but due to the euro it is a little pricy, so shop on the dutch side if you get to bikini beach early you can book a jet ski tour which is unbelieveable i highly reconmend it

Can we get to Bikini or Orient beach with taxis from the pier and what is the cost/distance? How much are the jet ski rentals?
Thanks!

there is something i can't tell you when it comes to prices because we had a rental truck, but you can't definately get a cab to the beaches from the pier, they are about 15 to 30 min drive depending on how fast you drive it is not a bad drive since the island is small. jet ski rentals are not bad but there are several different rental places on each beach so you will have to check it out and find the deal that fits you. i hope you will have fun and i leave on the same trip on Aug 7 same ship and stuff so i will tell you about it when i get back

How much was the cab fare to the boat yard and how much really is there to do...do we need about half the day?

Not sure how much cab fare would be. We had booked an excursion through RCL (snuba) and they took us to the BoatYard for it. The transportation was included in the price. You could probably email them from their website (listed above) and ask them what it would be from the cruise terminal to their place.

Take a look at their website, they offer tons of activities. Just about anything you want to do they have there. Next time we stop at Barbados, we are definately going to camp out there for the day!

On St Thomas my favorite excursion was Megan's Bay. Taking the ferry to the National Park (Caneel Bay) on St John's is also wonderful. I think they are 2 of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and we have made a point of visiting beautiful beaches.

i just got off the Mariner and can advise the best thing to do is rent a car for the day .. Budget and Hertz have counters just off the ship and avis is a 5 min walk

We rented a small SUV from Avis for $ 40 / day .. You can find sub compacts as cheap as $ 25 / day its very easy to get around as a taxi to orient beach is $ 16 for 1st 2 people and $ 8 each additional EACH WAY!

Make sure you bring very dark sunglasses so people dont catch you staring at their naked bodies :)

How about private sail boat or catamaran charters ... looking to take one out for a day while in port in St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Antigua or Barbados.. The ones through the ship are for 2-3 hours and very expensive; you can sail all day for that when you go privately.

Looking for some referrals. Thanks!

The taxi ride to The Boatyard is $3.00 per person each way. At the TAXI area someone will direct you to a taxi to Boatyard. When you leave, taxi drivers will be there waiting.

The Boatyard cost $12 per person. You get $5.00 each in tokens back. These tokens can only be used at their bar for food or drinks. This admission fee includes nice beach chairs and an umbrella. The beach area is clean and no beach-vendors bothered us. There are several "climbing walls" in the water, also from the pier there is a rope swing to swing off into the ocean. There were some "motor toys" to rent close by but did not do any of these.

It is a very nice way to spend a day at the beach in Barbados.

Just discovered this site, love it ! Have been to St.Lucia twice, one of my favourites. I would suggest doing the soufriere tour for the day which we did not do the first time. We saw the Pitons mountains, Sulphur Springs (drive-in volcano) waterfalls, botanical gardens...etc let me just say that we saw it all, it was the most incredible tour ever !! Refreshments included, loved the rum punch and local beer. Lots to see in St.Lucia, I would recommend using Jackson or Martis, very knowledgeable tour operators, here is their e-mail. Best land tour !
