Can you tell me if the adults only "Solarium" pool on the voyager class ships (we're on Mariner) are open to the sunshine ? On any pics I see it looks like there's a glass roof over it. I like the idea of being away from the kiddies, but I want to work on the tan - without glass between me and the sun. Thanks in advance !

The Solarium are "open to the sunshine" on all Voyager class ships. So there are no roofs above the that pool.

There is no glass roof over it. Here is a link to some great photos of the Solarium decks on the Voyager Class ships.

As far as the adults only theme..good luck! On all of my sailings on the Voyager Class ships, there have always been kids in the solarium pool. You could try the upper decks on the ship also for tanning. Kids aren't normally up there during the day, they are all in the pool.

Ali,

I agree with you about kids in the solarium pools. Unfortunately it seems more like a rule than an exception to find kids there.
Only time I never saw a kid in the Solarium was on the NV last November. But then again, there were no kids on the ship on that sailing!

Good point as I'm always sailing during the summer months or at Christmas when children are at a MAX. :lol

Ali,

Personally I avoid sailing on VY class during summer and/or Xmas.
Do you know that there have been up to 1300 kids onboard on some
of the sailings you are mentioning! And on the NV and MA, there are
no kid´s pools!!

Oh I have been there and done that. One Christmas on the Voyager there were over 1200 kids sailing. I did a back to back, sort of and got off the Voyager, flew to San Juan and boarded the Adventure for New Years. There were over 900 kids on that sailing. I cruise at Christmas because of school schedules.

There are at least a 1000 kids sailing during the summer months. Puts a little more excitement into the cruising experience. :lol

In any of our last 5 RCCL cruises kids were always running around in the allegedly "adults only" pool. It's very inconsiderate of the parents and the cruise line to allow this. The reason we went to the adults pool was to get away from the unsupervised children that run amuck on the ship. On our last trip the animals were spraying soda in the elevators and throwing food around in the promenade cafe. We were very disgusted with the way it was ignored by the cruise line.

We sailed on Explorer for Spring Break 2002 and I never saw even one child in the adult pool area! I guess we were just lucky!

We were on the Explorer last August and we never saw any kids in the Solarium area either. I guess it just depends on the cruise and whether people feel like obeying the rules.
