I will do that. Southampton is a favorite port of ours. The last time that we cruised out of it, the bay was filled with sailing ships. It was amusing to cruise through them.
next time that you are there..check out The White Star Tavern.
For sure. Hopefully soon since it looks like everybody has got the virus behind them

I’m on Caribbean Princess 11-19. I haven’t been out with them since March as they raised prices so much. I’m hoping for some lower prices in coming months then maybe go to Europe.

I’m departing Lauderdale on May 2 for transatlantic on the Caribbean. Any on clothing to take for Denmark, Sweden and this area. Also sights to see. I’ve noticed excursions are quite expensive. Is there interesting places to visit near the ports to visit on my own. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks RS. Is the white Star Tavern within walking distance of the Southampton port? Also would Stonehenge be an easy tour to do from Southampton? Thanks.

depending on where your ship docks.. yes. We usually stay there between cruises. They have the best food. The bar and the atmosphere is great.
You can eat both inside and outside.
The whole area where it is located is a fun evening place to be.

And yes, getting to Stonehenge is easy. plenty of tour guides to take you there in short time, or renting a car and driver works.
You can get to most interesting and scenic places in a couple of hours from there.

RS thanks for the advice. As to Stonehenge from Southampton do you know if you must purchase tickets in advance as Princess mentions that in trying to sell the excursion there. Also is it possible to grab a taxi there? Finally I’m looking for a pub serving gluten free beer in Southampton. Any recommendations. I appreciate your taking the time as I sail from Ft. Lauderdale this Saturday. Take care!

to get the best look at Stonehenge I would go online and book an Inner Circle Tour.
Viator has good information.
You can do it on your own, via rented car/taxi public transportation. You can take a train to Salisbury and the there is a "tour bus" from there that takes you to the stones.

When I was a child, we just parked the car near the stones and I ran up freely around the stones, able to touch them etc.
Then people lost their marbles.. they HAD to carve their initials into the stones. So a fence was put up around them. So these days you can walk around outside the fence. But there are still a few of the "Inner Circle" tours offered. And If I was going there for the first time, I would shell out for that tour.

That being said, remember that although these are by far the most impressive stones, there are a lot more circles dotted around the British Isles.

About that beer.. The White Star Tavern does serve some gluten free beer.. so.. Cheers:cheers:

Hey man you’re the best! If I knew who you were I’d buy you a beer. In the states it’s tough finding bars that serve GF.
