We had a great time in Alaska the first week of August - twice. Salmon spawning - makes for more bears & eagles looking for the pickings. We had great weather the first time and pretty good the second. There was LOTS of whale activity. Having said that, I think we'd be happy in Alaska any time, and I think the weather is unpredictable no matter when you go, but more likely to be good mid July - Mid Aug.Whatever you do next year - enjoy!Julie
