The vet couldn't find a reason for the swelling, he thinks it is connected to the other bite. He took some fluid out of it, and said it is not puss-y, just bloody, so he thinks it will be OK, just to keep an eye on it and if it gets larger he will put him on antibiotics.
I went ahead and made the appt for THE surgery, next Friday. He said they don't usualy like to do it this young, but I told him he is already showing spraying behavior, backing up to things, raising up on his hind legs and shaking his tail. Nothing sprays out yet, but I want to nip that in the bud. So, next Friday, he will get snipped, rabies shot, the lump checked on while he is out, and declawed. All at once to get it all over with. The vet recommended the declawing,, especially at this young age. He said it is not cruel and after a day or two he will never know what happened. He said one of his clients has a cat who claws the furniture, and she refuses to have him declawed. Her solution is to keep him in the basement and not let him out. I don't want pets on that basis. I have to have my babies with me. That is what worries me about Simon's surgery, they will keep him overnight, and I can pick him up on Saturday.
My poor baby. He is terrified to be in the car. He cried, and kept sticking his paw out of the carrier if I took my hand away. He even chewed on my finger, which I didn't mind until he got me between his new molars. Ouch.
He is very glad to be home, and I think Maxie missed him, because he came right away when I let him out of the carrier, and licked him. Scoots, however, hissed at him. I guess he smells like vets office. Never a dull moment around here. Dr Early asked me ho he was settling in. I told him I had forgotten what life is like with a 3 month old kitten. He asked if Simon were into everything. I said yes, and his favorite stunt was swinging from my living room drapes. Oh, well, I was thinking about replacing those, now I have an excuse. As soon as the claws are gone, lol.
Maxie sleeps with me a lot, and this morning very early he came and jumped into bed. Well, his little shadow jumped in bed, too. This is the first time he has done that. Trouble was, he landed on my foot, and immediately learned that age old game, mouse under the covers. Try to get back to sleep with a kitten chewing on your toes :kitten.
