Most upgrades happen within the category.. so if you booked an inside cabin that is what you will get more then likly.sailing in Oct you probably have been assigned. Check it out on carnival web page. Hopefully you are registered to use the site.top right hand corner click on MY PROFILE. once in there click on ADD A BOOKING NUMBER> put in all your information. Your cruise is now registered on the home page of carnival.click on cruise details in there somewhere find a link that says stateroom details..this is where you will find your assignment.if you want to upgrade-- you will be paying the going rate of todays prices. I wouldnt stress too much about your room- if its your first time you wont be in the room that much. There are no bad locations to be in.
