Update on my granddaughter

She is doing better, but still doesn't want to go to school. My daugher told me that my granddaughter thinks she is going to get in trouble at school for being slow and not being able to keep up......she's having a hard time with the crutches since she can't put any weight on her foot at all and she is slow...understandably! My daughter tried to explain to her that she, in no way, was going to get in trouble for being slow! Plus she is still in a lot of pain and can't take the pain medication at school.

Last night, my granddaughter wanted to make a thank you card to the paramedics who responded to the call. My daughter and granddaughter will take the card to the fire station in a couple of days with some cookies.

Here is the card she made. As you can see....the paramedic's names are Scott and Travis.

Aly went back to school today and of course all her fears were unfounded....as we told her. In fact, one of her classmates lives on the street where the accident happened and saw Aly being put into the ambulance that night. She told her teacher the next day and the teacher told the main office. The counselor called my daughter to see what had happened, if anything, since the kids were talking about it. After finding out the story, the counselor asked my daughter if it was okay to tell Aly's teachers and her classmates.....which of course my daughter said yes to. So.....when Aly got to school this morning (my daughter went in with her), all her classmates were crowding around her and welcoming her back. They had even made her get well cards. And the teacher had already asked her class for volunteers to carry Aly's books, help her to the restroom, help her at lunch, etc. The teacher told my daughter there were more volunteers than things that Aly would need help with! That's one great thing about a small town........people are so much more willing to help. Even the paramedics that were on the scene have called my daughter twice to see how Aly is doing. My daughter is going to surprise Aly and go up there to have lunch with her and if Aly is really tired or beginning to hurt, she will take her home for the rest of the day.

Jeanie.....I don't live in a wonderful town (I live in Houston), but they live in Magnolia, TX....which is a small, quaint town about an hour from Houston.
