Update on my friend Priscilla

As some of you know, she couldn't go on the cruise last year because she had a bad leg break a couple months before. Then this year, we had to postpone in May because she was still having problems with her leg and we rescheduled for September. She has had skin grafts (because of a severe infection), bone grafts, etc., etc., etc. She has had this "cage thing" on her leg for a long time time and attached to the cage are rods that go in one side of the cage and out the other. She has probably been in the hospital almost more days than she has been out in the last year. Well, this weekend, she started having a lot of pain (more than usual) and her skin graft starting oozing.

To make a long story short.....she is losing her leg....they will amputate sometime in the next couple of days. Please keep her in your prayers. She does however, have an amazing attitude about the whole thing. She told me...."Look....I'm 67 years old, I'm overweight......it's not like my leg is "out there" anyway!" She said she is fine with the situation and definitely still plans on going on the September cruise.

How horrible! But she seems to have a good attitude which will help her get through this.

What a shame she has had to go thru all this hardship and then after all that have it come to this, but I applaud her amazing attitude and outlook on her situation. Prayers that her surgery goes well and her recovery is uneventful. I am so glad she has a cruise to look forward to!

She has been thru such an ordeal & although it is sad that she has to lose her leg, perhaps she will begin to feel a lot better physically. Hope the surgery goes smoothly & that she will be able to cruise in Sept.

How terrible this is for your friend.

Prayers she will get through one more tough health problem in her life.

I went to see her yesterday and she is very upbeat. She was joking that now maybe she can get half price pedicures. I really admire her courage and strength!

Oh, Nita, I am so sorry to hear that after all this, she is losing her leg. But I know that positive attitude will really carry her far.

I just spoke with her and the surgery will be first thing Monday morning. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

This is such hard news to read. I'm sure Priscilla is afraid and is doing a whole lot of covering up with the "jokes". It brings tears to my eyes. I know we try to keep strong and upbeat for the people we love who are going through tough times and I suspect that Priscilla is trying to keep upbeat and positive for you too! It's a case of "Whistle a Happy Tune". I will be praying that all goes well with the surgery and that her recovery, while it may be long, will be "problem" free. Hugs to both of you.
