Saw Karry's post below & thought I should post but don't have any real news. Returned to Iowa City yesterday & saw another new dr. Looks like we will probably be doing more biopsies: they want tissue from the lungs, lymph nodes & possibly another bone biopsy --next wk if oncology/radiology can work it in. This dr says it is obvious our local drs have tried very hard to find out what is wrong but said it was time to move on with this & hopefully get some "real" answers. We have lived since Sept back & forth it is cancer/no it's not cancer. He said his intent is to get us an absolute answer of cancer or no cancer; if it's not cancer we need to know to get the stress off of us & if it is cancer we need to know so we can address it & we need to know how to plan our future--living in limbo is not an option for this dr. Told him our oncologist said that if it's cancer it is stage 4 & there is nothing that can be done to which this dr said they basically told you your time is limited & then they sent you to wait 3 mo for further tests? And I said yes; we aren't scheduled to see our local oncologist til mid Feb for a repeat of 2 Cts to see how much this has spread. Fortunately this dr is getting on this really fast--saw him yesterday & he already called here this a.m. for further discussion & has talked to our local internist twice this a.m. DH's Crohn's disease has reared it's ugly head again & is really creating issues which is another reason we need a diagnosis soon--may be facing surgery for the Crohn's. What gives us hope is that the 2 specialists we have seen in Iowa City both agree that DH does NOT present like a patient with cancer usually does. Haven't been on the board much lately as we have been to a lot of dr appointments due to problems with the Crohn's plus the trips to Iowa City. Rest assured that I will let my Cruise Addict family know when I know something. We're putting all of our hopes that Iowa City will get us an answer & soon. Thanks to all for your concern. Did see that Elliott made it home; so hope that things continue to go well for this young man.
