transfer from LAX to Long Beach

I was just wondering if anyone any experience/ advice for transferring from the LA airport down to the pier at Long Beach. I will arrive the day before my cruise (too many close calls with air travel to risk going day of) and will stay on the Queen Mary the night before. I was hoping someone from this fine group might lend the benefit of their previous experience....

thanks

TC gave you the best two options for shuttles in the LA area, but, unless you are going directly to the pier, you will usually get a milk run and wind up with an unofficial tour of Los Angeles, they are allowed up to three stops and they can be anywhere but they will usually be in the same direction you are going. Most shuttles will cost between $35-40 for two from the airport to the pier area, either Long Beach or San Pedro, for about $50 you can take a cab and go door to door.

I, too, am a bit confused about "transferring." We are spending 4 nights at DL before our cruise. Getting fron the airport to our hotel we will likely use that Disney Express Bus (or whatever it is called!) I am wondering about getting from our hotel on Harbour to Long Beach on the morning of our cruise. Are the two shuttle companies mentioned just "airport transfers"? Also, about transferring back to LAX from Long Beach to the airport after disembarkation. My TA told me that there are transport companies lined up to take people back to LAX and to not worry about booking the return transport in advance. Does this sound right? I like to plan ahead as we have 3 kids with us and don't like surpises? ::eek: Thanks for any insight for this rookie cruiser!!! ;)

I'm going to offer two other options ...

1) Karmel Shuttle - http://www.karmel.com/

I personally have not used them, but I have read a lot of good reviews. It is my understanding that they cost a little more, but provide a better service. I believe that means less stops. Check them out - that is free.

2) DK's Livery Service - http://www.dklivery.com/

I recently took a cruise from Los Angeles to Miami. Thus I needed a ride from my house to the port. After doing some research I selected DK's Livery Service (basically a limo service). They gave me a price that was better than an taxi and of course was personal. They arrived a bit early, made a very slight side trip for me (because I forgot something) and I was very happy with the service. Depending on how many people you have, this might work out well for you. Even if a taxi can hold four passengers plus the driver, where are you going to put all the luggage? Believe it or not, this might work out best for you. Based on my research, it worked out best (actually great) for me.

SuperShuttle has a very nice town car service. They even stopped at a liquor store so we could stock up. I think the max pax is 4. They meet you at baggage claim with your name on a sign, and then follow you to your luggage, grab it when you point it out, and then take it to their car. Worth every penny when dealing with LAX. Nice way to start a vacation. Even a better way to end a vacation. When we got off the ship, our driver was right there waiting for us with our name on a sign. Took care of all of our luggage and unloaded it for us when we got to a very busy LAX on a Sunday (tons of Disney visitors going home on a Sunday).

If I couldn't afford to have town car service and a balcony on a ship, we wouldn't cruise! That is why we are off to Las Vegas next, LOL!
