Tracking luggage

I have been reading all the luggage horror stories here, and have some suggestions.

We have purchased the bag trackers, but they do have a limited range.
Our main bag tracker item is the tags that we purchased many years ago from Magellan's

They are called "Retriever Tags" and right now they are on sale.


On the outside they invite baggage handler in multiple language to open them to view your itinerary if the baggage is lost.

You pop your itinerary inside of them.

I type out our date of flight, flight number and airline. below is an example.

DATE DEPART AIRLINE TIME FLIGHT # DESTINATION ARRIVE

Sat June 4Houston Air Alaska10.am635Seattle WA12.59pm
Sat June 4SeattleAir Alaska3.40pm2223Vancouver BC4.34pm

Staying at the Pan Pacific. Canada Place June 4 - 5
Boarding (ships name) date.

Cell Phone # 555-999 7777

I do NOT put our home address on it. Even on the one that I make out for the return trip. only an email address and a cell phone number.


And naturally I also type out the return information and take that with me to put in these tags for the return.

I often also print out copies that I place in each suitcase.


Also... I take a photo of our suitcases, and That is on our phone and pad. That way, IF your luggage is not there when you arrive, you have a picture of the lost luggage to show to "lost luggage".

Even if your luggage is black.. showing the type of luggage can be a help to the staff.

As I stated thanks but i have found a big problem, can't buy these anywhere. Not even at Magellans.

Why can't you buy them there? we ordered new ones last week and received them yesterday.

magellans.com ? here is a screen capture from their site right now.

In fact, I put in a test order and both colours were available for purchase.
