The Titanic Cemetery is not too far from town if you'll be having a car.
On one of my trips I drove off the Prince of Fundy Ferry and was driving to Halifax with a stop at Peggy's Cove. I had never been there before and was surprised to see so many people there just looking out at the water. Being on vacation, I wasn't listening to the radio and didn't know what was going on..and I thought it must always be that way. It seemed very solomn and I didn't know why until I found out that the Swissair plane had gone down offshore. I felt soooo badly because I didn't know what was going on and TV crews were asking people how they were feeling and they came to me, and I, of course knew nothing about it, and I told them I had just arrived and didn't know about it.

Later we left as it was really restricted in the area and headed to Halifax and went to the Titanic Cemetery. At that time the news crews were trying to make the connection with the Swissair flight and the Titanic and how it was that a rescue/recovery mission was again taking place in Nova Scotia.

At the cemetery the TV crews showed up and were broadcasting to NYC and since there were only 2 of us at the cemetery, they interviewed us about the Titanic and what brought us there. I told them that I was always very interested in the Titanic and wanted to see the cemetery.

The cemetery is very moving and serene because you can actually see the tombstones and markers of people who were identified and so many that were just marked "baby girl--unknown" and the date.

We also visited the Titanic museum in Halifax. It was also very moving and interesting: http://titanic.gov.ns.ca/
