Yes. See the following in my prior post where I quote the Carnival web site ...

"Tipping still applies regardless of the dining options selected, such as eating at the casual dining restaurant or utilizing room service. "

The wait staff rotates between the dining room and the buffet. I believe that is one of the reason the tips are pooled (if they are pooled). Because you are getting service from some people you do not see every night at meal time.
