Yes, you will find gratuities added in some restaurants, but not all tapas bars, sidewalk cafes, etc. We've been to Barcelona several times and usually followed the American custom of tipping servers when it's not included (and also tip taxi drivers and tour guides). In restaurants we make it a practice of asking whether a gratuity is included if it's not obvious--on an itemized restaurant check, it's usually a separate line item.
