Alrighty then! Cheeseburgers, pot roast and spaghetti are considered "Dinner Entrees".....and the planner is terrifying....

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKK ::o

Can I sell my ticket on E-bay???
=huh
Sorry Princess Loyalists but I am very underwhelmed. Again, at least I know now exactly what (not) to expect. Well, I'll make the best of it and enjoy myself regardless, but Princess Cruises and I are not simpatico. At least they have Korbel! Always look on the bright side of life!

...come on Connie....you have to be fair :grin ! Those menus also included dishes like Prime Rib of Beef, Barramundi, Beef Tenderloin, Roast Pork, Cioppino, Crablegs, Rack of Lamb, Gamberi ala Fra Diavlo, Pork Tenderloin and many others...It does appear that now they are offering something called "Homestyle Cuisine" which is brand new to me...haven't seen that before. Many of the things you mentioned as entree choices were dishes that used to be on the Luncheon Menu (maybe the kids luncheon menu)...seems they were popular enough with some cruisers to find their way to the Dinner Menu! Look hard, I'm sure you'll find something you like....on the bright side, if you don't you won't gain any weight!

Oh don't you worry Beryl, I'll find a way to gain weight! :DIt just won't be in the dining rooms...never thought I'd see the day the Nachos Grande at Senor Frogs would be my haute cuisine for the week. I'm actually finding it all very funny now....I find humor in pretty much everything. It's almost like Cunard's "class" system. If you want "free" food, it's going to be bad, otherwise for pay for the "Queens Grill"...which in this case, I guess is Sabatinis?

It's REALLY HARD...but I won't comment on the entrees you mentioned. Being a good girl.:angel At least at long as I can stand it....;)

I have
1) my balcony
2) my Korbel
3) a new ship
4) the sea
5) the moon

I'm good!!! And if I drink enough Korbel, who knows? A cheeseburger or quartet for entertainment might sound great!!
=lolgang

Connie, it has been my experience that it doesn't matter what you call it....at every meal they offer beef, chicken, veal, pork and fish and sometimes game! You can dress it up any way you like. What matters is how well it is prepared. Will you tell me exactly what you were hoping to see on offer in the dining room?? I would be very interested in what you consider to be an adequate menu.

Oh sure Beryl, make me a wtich.
:P
Okay, Rack of lamb, veal milanese, duck l'orange, lobster tails, rouquefort dressing, rack of veal, stuffed prawns, red snapper, pretty much anything you would at a see at a 5 star restaurant. Only 7am, so kinda stuck thinking about dinner items right now. But as posted many times by people who haved sailed in the 90 days or so, definitely not chili, pork chops or any pork at all, except the osso bucco, but even that didn't sound prepared right. should be over risotto, no chicken dishes....and I read the "standard" daily beef tenderloin is awlful, according to the people who had it and posted.
:chef
Easier if you just looked at a standard Celeb menu off a website than to try to remember. Night and day.But I'm over it, and late for work. Some people like plain, some like fancy. I just happen to prefer "fancy" food that I can't or don't make mysef at home. Have a good one!!

Well, I see both sides.

I understand Connie's desire for the kind of fancy dishes served at 5-star restaurants.

And I see the appeal for some people to have a choice like meat loaf (I make a great meat loaf :lol but maybe others can't get even that at home!!)

I personally find the addition of the "homestyle" entrees interesting (and from what I remember on my Crown cruise, it is an addition--it doesn't replace anything else).

I also think that sometimes something that doesn't "sound" classy on the menu can be wonderful. One of the first nights on our cruise, nothing really appealed to my husband from the main menu, so he ordered the "always available" chicken. Well, it was wonderful. Just a chicken breast, but nicely roasted, moist with a crisp skin. The sauce was light and seasoned just right. And the little potatoes that came with it were melt in your mouth. I ordered the dish the next night and asked for lots of extra potatoes.

Of course everyone has different tastes, so I'm looking forward to your review Connie.

Now connie...you are not the witch...you are the Princess and don't you forget it...=lolgang!

Like I said, your items are beef, veal, pork and fish with a little game (duck...though what they serve in not wild) thrown in for good measure....each one tarted up! By the way, osso bucco is made with veal shanks and the Osso bucco that I have had on Princess was the best ever!!! You will not have to order Chili or pork chops or stew or meatloaf or anything that you do not want to eat! I cannot believe that Celebrity does not offer any type of chicken dish on it's dinner menu...I know a lot of people who would not like that at all because they do not eat fish or beef!! (Not me...I eat anything ::o::o::o)

Milanese added to anything (fish, beef, chicken whatever) just means that it has been stewed up in tomatoes...Cook like that at home all the time...great way to deal with a tough cut of meat..cook it long and slow in tomatoes :grin. I'm guessing that you do not eat pork and that's okay ... I love pork tenderloin and would choose it over beef any day of the week. And have you ever eaten Barramundi? How about bison? Someone mentioned somtime ago that it was on a Princess menu.

Now, I am not going to tell you that you will get 5star cuisine onboard a Princess ship! You will not. Five star cuisine and 3000 hungry passengers to feed at dinner time should not be mentioned in the same breath. What you should be expecting to receive is good quality, banquet style food. I have always received that on Princess and sometimes I have even been surprised to be served excellent banquet style food! For 5 star you should try the Crown Grill or Sabatini's where you will pay a premium and for the premium you deserve the right to complain if you do not get what you are expecting...they will then make it right! If you hate what you ordered in the dining room just ask the dining steward to remove it and choose something else.

Guess I am just a wee bit tired of you telling everyone you are going to hate Princess before you even step on the ship and I am just trying to make you feel a wee bit happier about your trip...and the money you have clearly thrown down the drain! If you won't be made happy...so be it!

Guess I am a bit crabby...sore back from stringing Christmas lights yesterday...and more to face today :grin !
