As others have said, smokers have designated areas where they can smoke including their staterooms on Carnival. On the Splendor the only staterooms that one cannot smoke in is the Spa staterooms. In fact, you must sign a contract that if you smoke in a Spa cabin you will be fined $250. In fact, that is one reason I booked a Spa cabin to avoid the residue of smoke left-over in some cabins. However, I think Carnival does a really good job of sanitizing their cabins from the smell of stale smoke. Hope this helps.
