Regarding which side of the ship... Not sure of Carnival's policy but on Celebrity the Hotel Director on board determines which side of the ship is for smoking.Regarding the Paradise. The non-smoking ship idea was a good experiment. Sadly, Carnival determined that people who smoke also like to drink and gamble more. Paradise ended up pricing extremely inexpensively in order to fill her up. She was the lowest revenue ship (both in bookings and on-board) in Carnival's fleet so that's why they scrapped the non-smoking idea.
