Shore excursions-Glory 6/12

When we sailed Princess and Royal Caribbean we prebooked our excursions, but don't seem to be able to do that with Carnival. Has anyone ever booked excursions other than with the ship, or even just went to Orient Bay beach on their own, and how did it go? We went there on our Princess Cruise, and want to go back, but Carnival doesn't have an excursion there for our cruise. Thanks

It's really to go to Orient Beach on your own - just take a cab off the pier, to the right. About $6 per person. No reason to go through Carnival.

We did not book an excursion on St. Maarten. As Camelia said, if you want to go to Orient Bay you can take a taxi. We were with 2 other couples and one couple chose to rent mopeds and the 4 of us left rented a jeep for $80. I didn't think that $40 per couple was bad and we got to do what we wanted to do. We drove around the whole island, stopped at Orient Bay for a few hours and had a wonderful time there. We rented jet skis and had a blast. After we drove over to Marigot for lunch and shopping. If you want to see the island on your own this was a great way to do it.
