Scenic White Pass Railway excursion in Alaska

Looking for input from anyone who has done the above excursion up the mountain and then bike back down.

I've seen them biking down on several trips if taken on the train and no one that I saw was required to pedal. I think that would be it for the most part except a bit of getting started at the top and finishing on the flat at the bottom. If you book through the Rail Road you will likely have to get downdown to the station on your own. Opposite on the return I think.
