Good morning everyone,

Florida is still battling Fay. Fay now has rains in SC, GA, FL, AL, and MS. BTW, there are freeze warnings in a small area of the Wyoming mountains.

Tropical Storm Fay will continue to impact parts of the Southeastern States into the weekend.

Fay is forecast to track slowly west along the northern Gulf Coast. This will continue the threat for gusty winds, rain and thunderstorms, along with the threat for flooding over parts of Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.

Please see the tropical update page for more details on Fay.

Moisture from Fay will expand across much of the Deep South and Southeastern States through the weekend into early next week, keeping scattered thunderstorms in the forecast. With the increased clouds and rainfall, temperatures will also be below average in these areas.

Meanwhile, a weakening upper-level disturbance will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast from eastern Texas, across the Lower Mississippi River Valley, into the Tennessee Valley this weekend.

Locally heavy downpours will be possible here, with some flash flooding over south Texas.

Midwest

It looks to be stormy and unsettled over parts of the Midwest this weekend.

A weak upper-level disturbance, combined with an approaching cold front, will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Great Lakes and Midwest today; locally heavy downpours can be expected.

A few isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible, mainly over the Great Lakes region. Damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, will be possible.

This cold front will move into the Ohio Valley by Sunday, keeping showers and thunderstorms in the forecast there.

Meanwhile, high pressure will dominate the northern Plains and Upper Midwest today, allowing for sunny skies, cooler air, and dry weather conditions. This high pressure will bring similar conditions across all of the Plains, Midwest, and Great Lakes by Monday

Northeast

It will be a nice start to the weekend over the Northeastern States.

High pressure will slowly move east of the area, but remain close enough to support mostly sunny to party cloudy skies today.

Southerly winds on the backside of this high pressure will also allow for continued warm air over the area. Above average temperatures will be felt over interior parts of the Northeast, where highs will reach well into the 80s.

By Sunday, a weak cold front will enter interior areas, bringing a chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms. These will move into the East Coast Cities by Sunday night into Monday, as the cold front moves east.

Cooler air will move into the area by Monday.

West

Generally dry weather will dominate the Western States today, as a ridge of high pressure attempts builds over the area.

High temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above average from Arizona and California, to Utah, Idaho, and western Montana.

A new cold front will arrive in the Pacific Northwest Sunday and Monday, bringing showery weather. Cool, below average temperatures will also move back into the area for early next week.

Meanwhile, generally dry and seasonal temperatures will dominate the remainder of the Western States for early next week.

Good morning Charles and thank you for the updates. Our winds are down, but we traded that for a tornado watch until 3pm. Fay continues on a tour of the state, and now is visiting my brother near Tallahassee. I really think by the time that she has left the state that there will be not one part that wasn't rained on. It's a shame that we couldn't share this rain with states that have such severe droughts.

My gosh, those rain amounts are staggering for Titusville and Cocoa Bch. Fay needs to dry up!!

Stay safe All in her wake, and be cautious...if it looks too deep to drive through, than more often than not, it is. :)

Another hot and steamy day here.

Sure wish that Fay hadn't decided to stay in Florida. We sure could use some rain.
