Have a look at Long Beach Hotels. Just a quick shuttle/Uber away and lots more to do. Stayed at the Hyatt Pre and day room Post. Great. Walk to restaurant etc. . Shuttled to San Pedro . FYI fly into Long Beach Airport is way better. Than LAX.if you can manage that.

Yup, I agree with bseabob, long beach is way better that lax, not so crowded!!!
