Hi Linda - Many hotels are convenient to the port.  We've stayed at the Holiday Inn (a couple of times), across the street from the dock and it was fine, although pricey for what it was.  Last time we stayed at the MARRIOTT in Seaview Village.  Very convenient and close to everything (easy to domin San Diego).  Hyatt and Embassy Suites are convenient too.   Port and airport are very close to all of these.
