Hi,
I was looking to travel on a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Victory and was wondering what people's thoughts were on the Riviera Deck. What are the pros and cons of staying on this deck compared to Main, etc. I was looking to get an oceanview room. Any insight in regard to the deck/rooms would be greatly appreciated.

Pro: It's inexpensive/quiet/a "good fit" [less motion than those on a higher deck] for people prone to Motion Sickness
Con: You're farther away from "the action"

[Most of my CCL cruises have been on Riviera]

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it! Anyone else cruise while staying on this deck?

We ALWAYS stay on the Riviera Deck and will be doing it again on the April 6th Victory.... There is absolutely nothing wrong with it... We pay less and get the same exact things as the passengers who pay more to be on the Upper Decks...

If you want to see water, go to the Lido Deck!!!

RIVIERA IS THE WAY TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....

We usually book the Riveria guarantee and have gotten upgraded each time to a higher deck

Look closely at the brochure. Riveria deck, in my opinion is a better place to be than the Main deck, reason being, Riveria deck has a passenger deck above it and crew deck below it.

Main deck is directly beneath a public deck which has the main show lounge in the front, main lobby, dining room, galley and then another dining room. You ain't lived til you have a cabin directly under the galley !!
The cabins are identical on both Main and Riveria deck--just the location is the only difference.

We stayed on the Riviera deck in 06 on the Victory. It was very quiet.
I just booked Victory again today but a balcony.

I just booked on the Riviera deck again today! I agree with everything already posted here...it's quiet and cheap!

On most of our cruises we book a 4A guarantee and have been upgraded a few times. My feeling is I like near the middle of the ship. Regardless if I'm on the bottom deck or the top deck I leave my room and go to the elevator and push up or down and go to the floor I want, and go forward or Aft. I think the low deck is quiet and and less motion if the waves are rough.
