Happy Saturday, everyone! After our record breaking temps (97) yesterday, today will be a more normal day with temp ONLY going up to 92. That really was stifling yesterday when it's even too hot for me to sit on the lanai.
Trying to take care of some of the last minute things we have to gather up or do before we head out of here for a few days. We're going up to NC to see our friends J&J and celebrate Father's Day with Brian & family. That day also happens to be Brian's birthday, so it will be a double celebration. We leave here on Tuesday and will return the following Tuesday. I can't do a 10 hour drive any longer, so we will stay overnight near Savannah or a bit further north, depending on how my back and knees feel. We'll do the same thing when we're heading home. We will be staying at a hotel while in NC as both J&J and Brian have stairs to get to the bedrooms and I can't do stairs any longer. I will be bringing my laptop with me, so I will get a chance to check on once in a while. Aren't you thrilled? LOL
Lee - I hope those sleep meds help. I sure could use some too. Woke up shortly after 4 this morning. Funny thing was that Bert woke up at the same time. He went to the bathroom and wasn't back in bed for 5 minutes when he once again started snoring. Needless to say, that was the end of my sleep for the night. I really wanted to hit him in the head when he got up again at 9 to go to the bathroom and once again went back to bed because he was 'still so tired"! And that's when I wanted to hit him.
Karen - Glad the lip is better. Good idea staying out of the pool for a few days to give your lip a chance to heal. I knew darn well you wouldn't be able to last very long without a project to work on. Building a deck is very ambitious. Good luck with this project!
Kathie - Sorry you can't go strawberry picking this year. I'm sure there will be plenty of berries available at all the produce stands and you could buy a flat of locally grown strawberries for a decent price. That's what we used to do when the kids were still home, but now that would just be too much.
Dave - That is too cool that your governor shows up at the winner's house when they win the million dollars. If our beloved governor showed up at my door, I think I would spit in his face. His not making people get vaccinated before going on a cruise is a disaster waiting to happen. Considering the number of tourists who visit Florida and all the senior citizens who refuse to get the vaccine, you know another outbreak on a ship is quite possible. Even making people get vaccinated and being tested before the cruise, look what happened with the Celebrity ship - 2 people tested positive on a cruise from St. Martin this week. You'll see ships that aren't allowed to dock anywhere for sure, thanks to DeathSantis!
Bill - Thanks for the update on Rita. Glad to hear she's doing better at this place and I bet she can't wait to go home and see the new place on the inside.
Guess it's time for me to find something for lunch. I started this post hours ago when Brian called. We had our usual conversation about getting vaccinated or not. They refuse to get vaccinated and insist there's all these horror stories about the vaccine. Should be a fun visit with him next week!
So on that note, I'm out of here. Enjoy the rest of your day!
