Good Friday morning all!
We got some REALLY good rain through the evening and even into the late night over here Lee. The Creek is UP.
Our next door neighbor, ART is his name, is a keeper. When we were going and staying in Florida for 2 months he would basically walk through our house to make sure any pipes didn't break and flood the place. He's a fantastic person. Single and keeps his property up very nicely. I would hate to see him ever move.
My Art takes care of his CATS when he goes up North. It works out nicely.
Lee, any chance that one of your neighbors could watch AVA for 7 or 10 days and you and Lu-Ann could take a Caribbean cruise somewhere warm and not affiliated with the U.S. in February?? Not too sure how many people would take on a job like that. It's just a thought.
Lawn Waste just picked up our 12 lawn bags full of clippings that Art cut down in the creek area. There will be more as soon as it dries up around here.
Our lawn fertilizer service came out nice and early this morning and sprayed our lawn for GRUBS. The Squirrels have been having a field day DIGGING UP THE LAWN and making HOLES looking for the little critters. I called and asked if it was too late to treat the lawn on and the nice guy of course said NO it wasn't. He left a message he would be out this morning.
Now if I could find a spray to chase away the little monster critters.
I need to go and return a book at our library and try and find another one. Nothing better than reading a book on a dreary day.

Good afternoon, just checking in. I worked at Rev Lisa's today and I'm beat! I pressure washed the patio area and stepping stones in the area we put rocks last week. Then we went out for breakfast and to Lowe's so she could get some herbs and things for the raised planter that was being delivered today. About 15 minutes after we got back to her house the planter arrived. Between the 2 of us we got it put together and settled in the patio area. Filled it with 5 big bags of dirt and then she put her plants in it. She was soo happy to see it all done. We were so hot and sweaty from all the work so we decided to jump in her pool. She loaned me a bathing suit that was her Mom's, the water was pretty chilly but it felt good. Now I think I need a nap

Good Saturday morning. A cool 48F to start the day.
We had a similar rain Thursday night through Friday morning too Kathie.
OH OH, I’M GONNA RANT! We have considered alternate plans for a winter getaway. We have friends who have said they would gladly take Ava for a couple of weeks. Problem being that most southern cruises sail out of FL. We would fly out of DTW a day early and get a hotel for a night. And let’s not even talk about luggage fees and the cost of transporting Lu-Ann’s walker. All of those things, including everything on board and most ports are in US dollars. And the exchange rate now is not good. At the end of the day it would likely cost nearly as much for 10 days as it would for 8 WEEKS at Sunshine’s. We pay her in Canadian dollars. Not to mention the mentally unstable moron sitting in the Gold and White House. Sorry. A good thought Kathie. Just not a good trade off.
Karen, I wish I had even a little of the energy you have. I’m sure that Reverend Lisa looks back and thanks her lucky stars for the day you walked in to St. Mary’s and her world. I’m sending a big hug your way just for being you. Did you get that well deserved nap?

Mike: You need to explain what went wrong with your CHART? You left us hanging Buddy???????? Keep asking the AID for help with the computer. Anybody younger than all of us knows so much more than you can imagine about computers these days!

I think you should give 'Sunshines' place in Florida another review, especially since you pay in Canadian Funds. The only thing I would change is NOT GOING IN JANUARY! It's proven to be colder than normal. Wondering if she has any other months available for you guys to get away. And as for the MORON in the GOLDEN/WHITE HOUSE..... I wouldn't let him get in your way of crossing the border. I know it's a hard pill to swallow on what he's been doing lately and I HATE EVEN MORE THAN YOU DO (if that's possible), but getting away with Lu-Ann would be more important. Just a thought.
It's nice when the SUN is OUT, but as soon as the clouds show up it gets rather chilly at 67F. Almost had to turn the heat on early this morning, but put on a HEAVIER SWEAT SHIRT and moved around in the kitchen.
Made Art some Brownies in a cupcake pan w/paper in the slots as an experiment, and they turned out rather nice. I just wanted thicker Brownies and it worked. I put 1 extra egg in the box mix and 2 ounces of Instant Choc Pudding to make it more cake like.
Okay, I need to INVENT something for our dinner. This chore never ends, day in and day out, week after week, month after month, years and decades after years and decades......... I know I could go on one of those shows that gives you 30 mins to make something from a basket of various foods. I do it "almost" every day!

Useless information: Just a little FYI!!
I was reading up about how to get rid of Squirrels digging up lawns, etc. and one hint was COFFEE GROUNDS. It said the little Squirrels HATE THE SMELL. I had a weeks worth of coffee grounds in a plastic bag and took it out and put a lot of it in the planter that is on the deck table and hopefully that Squirrel will stop climbing up there and stop digging in the planter. He makes a mess on the table as well as in the planter. And I tossed the rest around the bushes where the pole is for the food for the Blue Bird and Cardinals. They also said Peppermint Oil is good to spread around and Irish Springs Bar Soap shavings. I'll try anything at this point to drive them away.
I know that Lu-Ann loves them at Navy Park and feeds them, but at least they're not in your yard!

We stopped feeding the squirrels when the cost of peanuts went up from $9 to $14 Kathie. Hopefully the coffee grounds will keep them away from your plants. At least if you try Irish Spring the little beggars will smell nice. I think part of the reason Sunshine gives us such a good rate is because we take the house in January. I think we’re both (Lu-Ann and I) concerned because her PD has progressed so quickly over the past 6 - 8 months. A cause for concern on the road, at the hotels and so on. We won’t even get into someone’s endless insults and pointless tariffs on Canada.

Okay, this is me giving "SLEEPING" another chance tonight. The mind (what's left of it) doesn't seem to realize it's 1:20 A.M. and I really need to fall ASLEEP! I tried to be as quiet as I could, so I wouldn't wake the rest of my Extended Family! Be back later in the morning. It's 46F outside now degrees outside right now! Brrr. I'd tried to open the window to get some nice crisp air in our room, but SOMEBODY has a NASTY WOOD FIRE smoking out there. Wet wood from the rain yesterday!

Higher taxes on Canadian home owners in FL = higher rental fees = fewer snowbirds = less tourism dollars. About as good an idea as trump’s tariffs that have raised the cost of living for most of America.
I’ve decided if I can’t say anything nice about the once great and friendly neighbour to the south I’m not going to say anything at all.

I must have finally fallen asleep after counting all those Sheep! Only trouble is that I still got up way too early..... around 7:45 A.M. It's time to dig out the heavier sleepwear for these cold mornings. It's not going to get much warmer than 70F here today and that's if you stand where the sunshine is.
Not much to chat about today. Art is outside doing the last of his annual Fall cutting of his "so-called" flowering plants down by the creek. The only thing he will leave standing for now are the really pretty Jerusalem Artichokes. They are last bloomers and stand high and sway in the wind. That's the only plant I really like from down there.
I found this picture online. This is EXACTLY what they look like down by the creek. And "NO" that isn't Art! Ha Ha. I guess you can dig up the roots and cook and eat them. That will never happen here. Art wants them to spread across the creek line and make a border. The nice thing is that they bloom late in the year and stay around a good amount of time.
