I guess her mistake was sucking her thumb before getting the job, an error I didn't make. Once I got the job and proved my worth I was free to suck my thumb whenever I want to. At first people were surprised but they eventually got used to it and, more, one of my fellow workers admitted she did also! It's really not a big deal and people do get used to it eventually.

I don't think I have ever used this board for a topic other than cruising but, I have to share this with all of you. I am a child care director. I young lady who looked about 17, l8 or 19 came in the my center today to ask if we were hiring. She was sucking her thumb. I asked if she has a certain class that is required in our state. When she took her thumb out of her mouth to reply that she did not I told her that I only hire staff who have had that class. Had she been qualified I guess I would have had to tell her that I do not hire thumb suckers. Is that againist any laws!?
