I haven’t tried it, but is it really that disgusting as claimed to be?

I didn't think it was disgusting. There were so many other things to order, so I never actually ordered it for myself - had a taste of Mom's.

Did they really call it Ranch Steak on the menu? On the Mariner they offered a steak every day as an option, but I thought they called it a sirlion steak. I had that one night and it wasn't too bad - I didn't like other things on the menu and wanted to eat with everyone in the dining room, so I ordered it. I wondered if that was the infamous Ranch Steak when I ordered it!

We had to try it since people said it was soooo bad- we had to see for ourselves. We ordered one and both tried it. We both liked it and didnt think it that bad.

I love steak, and I must say the steak I had on the Majesty last April was very good. I ordered it medium rare, and it actually was. Pretty amazing when you are talking about that kind of volume!

They do indeed call it a ranch steak, and I thought it was pretty good too. A nice alternative if you don't like anything else on the menu.

Been on both Mariner and Sovereign and the steaks available on non-steak nights were pretty good! Although I have never heard of it referred to as "ranch".

Sailed on the Explorer a couple of weeks ago and really searched for Ranch Steak. They did offer a "Royal" steak at lunch every day. I had it once. Ordered it medium rare and had no complaints at all with it. I thought it was great. My husband had a steak at dinner one night and it, too, was wonderful.

It used to be called "Ranch Steak" but the name was changed to "Royal Steak" within last year or so I think. Sadly it is not a sirlion but to be honest I dont know what it is.....except on the NOS in Feb it was awful. But on the Splendour on the Med few months before it had been fine.
My parents had the steak quite a few times recently on the BOS in the Med and said it was nice !! I believe it all depends on how you like it cooked. My son and I like ours well done and I am afraid RCCI just cant seem to handle that.

I cannot handle well-done steak. I feel like I might as well eat chicken rather than beef that isn't at least pink inside.

Didn't like the seasonings on it (ranch dressing mix?). The steak was tender and prepared to order.

With all the beef "scares" in the UK over the last few years, there is no way I would eat meat that has pink in it. Each to their own eh! How can you compare chicken to well done meat?

We like RC steaks...some will make fun of them but I sure would like to have one right now, LOL. I have ordered just about every steak they have and very good! If you want it a certain way...be sure to make it clear...repeat it two times, you want it done this way or that...of course very nicely. The waiter I bet will make certain it is good and will ask you.
