Princess Upgrades?

We are platinum almost elite level with princess. We booked a group of ten cabins for my 50th birthday…our treat to family and friends. Almost Everyone is a newbie. We all have the same inside quad cabins. We also just booked a 16 day Hawaii cruise with princess. Just got an email saying that three of our cabins…all containing new cruisers…were all upgraded from inside cabins to deluxe balcony cabins. I’m feeling a bit bitter about this that Princess did not ask nor offer us one of the upgrades. One family has toddlers and did not really want the upgrade. Now princess says it’s alol a lotto style for choosing who gets upgrades and we are not even allowed to change cabins with the ones who didn’t even want it. Is there anything we can do? Customer service says no to an upgrade and to switching rooms? Any help?

Wow! Sorry not to have any advice other than a strong letter to someone higher up asking how a buyer of ten cabins doesn’t get some consideration! Really bad customer relations to say the least! I feel for you.

I do recall a vlog by ‘Shiplife’ who, onboard a Carnival ship didn’t like his cabin, gave cash to a couple he met and traded cabins. I think he may have had some explaining to do but managed to stay put. Perhaps one more try once onboard to switch with the family with toddlers….. say one has recently become a very quick climber and for safety sake, a switch is necessary. I’d presume they get fussy for regulation reasons as a plane does for tracing people to the correct cabin in emergencies (though I can think of no reasonable logic for why you can’t trade in advance, even if there was a token administration fee…. Maybe they fear too much bartering with people selling their upgrades? But really, look at the group buyer!)
