Price promise rip off

In October 2023 Princess issued a price promise that Early Birds who booked their vacations would get the best prices. Carnival director Terry Thornton said the days of getting the best bargains closer to departure, were over.
My husband an I, both pensioners and elite members, have to save long in advance for our cruises, but with this promise we took the plunge, booked early for our May holiday and counted our holiday fund.
two months after the promise I checked the website and found our cruise, same date, same cabin type, same perks, advertised on the Princess site £700 cheaper. I contacted Princess in their Southampton office and was told that prices are fluid and can go up or down. We were then told to cancel our cruise and rebook it at the lower price - losing our deposits - and pay a £100 admin fee to have it changed.
What a way to treat loyal customers = loyalty which Princess keeps telling us, humbles them!

Princess is going down the tubes. Huge ships packed with kids. Last cruise on Discovery princess had 700 kids! Princess is the new carnival but they also lie. Sorry you got screwed by them but it's only the beginning. They are 30 billion in debt. The good ole days of a nice princess cruise are gone. Been on 30 with them and it's been bad for the last 5, getting worse

Never liked the up and down ‘fluidity’ of the pricing, wondering if you won at the game or paid twice as much as someone else. I find it rather odd that there is an admin fee to “change the bookings” when actually if you cancel, lose your deposit and book anew…that’s not a change but a fresh start!? I think I’d see if there was someone higher up in Princess to speak to…do you have a copy of that early bird promise? Sounds like poor advertising and bad business unless there is some fine print that you missed?

A few times I’ve noted on my calendar pricing details then checked as the cruise drew much closer. I’ve never found where the advance booking would save money over booking within the 90 day window. Often it was much more and a few times about the same. I guess you can get a wider cabin selection though. For me that’s not really important.
