Pre/post cruise hotel recommendation in Amsterdam

Hi everyone, My husband and I are taking a cruise out of Amsterdam this coming August and are searching for a place to stay for one night before the cruise and a couple of nights after the cruise. We've never been to Amsterdam and of course am interested in proximity to the port, public transport and, it would be nice if after the cruise the hotel was close to public transport to the center and major museums. I have searched several sites and found many that meet my criteria, but I think the reviews are from people not going on a cruise so I guess my question is more geared to the cruise passengers who have been there since cruising returned in the last 18 or so months.
