Hi Coppertone Girl...We were on the Miracle in November and hit both of those ports on the same cruise. I would agree with frito that you are certainly NOT going to want to wander around on your own in Belize. I understand there are some really outstanding things to see there if you scuba dive or like to snorkle...but I would be hesitant about taking a trip there that was not arranged by the cruise line. The shopping area is very small and it is interesting how they have it completely blocked off from the rest of the city. Costa Maya on the other hand is a really pretty port. The shopping is good....as I recall, leather was the thing to buy there. In my opinion, you'll find better buys in Cozumel..but Costa Maya was a very colorful port and worth seeing.Have a great trip!!
