My husband and I are thinking about taking our 3 kids on the Playa Mia Beach Deluxe excursion in Cozumel in August. Can anybody provide some info on this tour? I was wondering if there is snorkel equipment available for rental. At $65.00 a person, is it worth it? Thanks!

Playa Mia is not in Playa Del Carmen, it's a short ways down from the pier in Cozumel. If you don't book the ship's excursion, it will cost you $14 (that's the price to most beaches in Cozumel) by taxi to get there and another $12 per person to get in. This includes the use of a beach chair, the freshwater pool, non-motorized beach toys, showers, bathrooms, snorkel euipment and the zoo. They have a little man-made underground mayan village you can snorkel through. You can also upgrade your admission to include the buffet, bar drinks and motorized beach toys. If you want to go to Playa Mia, it might be more cost effective to take a taxi and pay the admission price rather than book it through the cruise line. Otherwise, there are a lot of other free beaches on Cozumel that offer the same hospitality, without the cost.

Im sorry-- I guess I goofed when I thught it was in Playa- I read it wrong. According to the site-- the all inclusive package is 39 bucks pp. (does not include transportation. thats a heck of a lot cheaper then 69 bucks. thats 30 bucks more that the cruise lines is charging. What do you get for that 30 bucks??

Just as a suggestion, we are avid snorkelers, and we bought our mask, snorkel, and fins all in one shot from WalMart. We're not pro's, so the sets we got from there for my wife, the kids, and I have worked great. We take 'em anytime we go to a beach....you'd be surprised how much you can see just about anywhere!
