Can anybody recommend a nice hotel in New Orleans that offers park & stay where we could keep our van during the cruise? With a family of 5, I think this would be easier for us than using the Fulton St. parking garage. Thanks!

Quite frankly, it can be cheaper (and more convenient) in the long run to park at the port. If you park at a hotel, you will need to take a cab to the port. Most cabs charge by the person so a family of 5 would cost close to $30+ to get to the port. Then another $30+ to get back.. Thats pretty close to the cost to park for 7 days any way. Also, the port has security and lots of activity which can help prevent any thing happening to your car. I have heard horror stories about leaving cars in Hotels (including people who work for the hotel getting paid to let others know what cars are ripe for ripping off). Then you also have the issue of loading and unloading your luggage a bunch more times. When you get off the cruise, you can go right to your car and you're off.

The last itme we were in NO, We stayed at the marriott on St Charles st. Its was beautiful and very reasonably priced. It was only 5 minutes from the port. I booked from Mariott.com

Just my Two Cents..

We used the Fulton garage three times with ease. We have stayed at the Hilton Riverwalk (which does offer seasonal cruise and park, but not when we cruise) Spring Hill Suites (twice) and the Courtyard Marriot (once) that rshreib mentioned. If you book on a room, try to do so way ahead of time because New Orleans rooms will go for top dollar if you book last minute.

It is easy to park the car, and take the shuttle provided right to the pier and just as easy once disembarked. I know the parking situation is going to be changing in New Orleans, but we never had any problems with Fulton. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!!

We are staying at the Holiday inn select in a one room with a king bed for $129 which includes free parking and a shuttle to the dock and free continental breakfast. Mention that you saw it on the internet and tell them you will be on a cruise.

I just recently stayed at the Maison St. Charles. Nice, clean hotel. Precruise package is $89 for the room and $5 a day for parking (secured). Also a free limo ride to the port.

The Holiday Inn IN the French Quarters is where we stayed. It was very nice and no problems with leaving the vehicle there.

Like Chris64, we have stayed at the Maison St. Charles and it worked out quite well. In fact, the driver who drove us to the pier apparently knew the workers directing traffic there because they waved us on in front of all the other traffic and we got there in no time. If you are a geocacher, there is also a cache hidden at the hotel.
