per your request I am posting the information on the Shore Excursion we took while on the Panama 04 Coral Princess. I have to tell you, I don't swim and was not sure of this excursion but we had a blast. It was not as pricey as the Ocean to Ocean. We dance and ate with the natives. I would say it was an experience.. This was our first Addict Cruise

Authentic Embera Indian Village - Panama

Travel by dugout canoe on a cultural visit to an Embera village in the heart of Chagres National Park.

WHAT YOU VISIT
Board your air-conditioned transportation for the drive to Chagres National Park. En route, your guide discusses the history and heritage of these native people, who call the rain forest home. Arriving at the park, board a dugout canoe ? a vessel crucial to both Spanish and native settlers ? and cruise upriver to the Embera village. Keep an eye out for monkeys, toucans, and sloths. At the village, the chief greets you with a traditional welcome. Take in a performance of native music, song and dance. Stroll about the village and interact with these gentle people and browse for traditional crafts. Please remember you are a guest in the village: Act with common sense and sensitivity to the Emberas? privacy. A snack and a complimentary beverage are served before the return trip to the ship.

Wishing all you Jewel cruisers lot of fun. We will be thinking of you.

Limon shore excursion will follow.

Thank you jeanie, we may have to do this.
The last cruise we did that "Ocean to Ocean" tour, and loved it. But you are right, it was pricy :lol
I have asked Jacquie to also tell what they did on this cruise, hopefully she will soon post.

Thanks for the info and pictures, looks very interesting. was there a problem communicating with the natives.

What Jeanie failed to mention was the crafts. All of the crafts were hand made. We bought a dish that was made from sundried clay and painted with dye produced from tree roots. We also bought hand woven bowels painted with more of the same root dye mixture. All and all it was a very interesting excursion.

yep.. this is heading up my list of things to do :grin That was the best thing about that whole cruise, that you could buy crafts that really were made by the people that lived there, instead of the usual imported stuff.

Thanks Jeanne and Rick for sharing.Paw and I may have to pass on this can't see either of us getting in a dugout. Sure like the idea of buying local crafts-Paw bought a sea horse he saw them carving in Bonaire it may not be perfect but we know it was local.
