Re: Panama Jewel Hunters Good morning
OK.. so this is how we spent our weekend..
Rick and Jeanie were able to come up and keep us company. We told them that the water temp in the pool was a bit cool still. As it ranges from 65* to 72*, but to bring the swimsuits just in case.
They arrived Friday night, and we spent the rest of the evening talking and relaxing. I think it was around midnight when we went to bed.
Saturday morning we made a breakfast of Eggs, Bacon and pancakes.. using up the rest of the Vermont syrup from Cutie... yum!
Then we went out on the house deck and relaxed for a while to digest the goodies.
A vote was taken.. by me and Jeanie, and we decided to drive to Smithfield Outlet shops. That is quite a drive, but pretty, as Einstein took us by the country way.
That is one big outlet. we did not cover a fraction of it.
Einstein found some new shorts, Jeanie and Rick made some purchases, and I ended up with two doormats :grin
E was passing a store and said "those mats will match the new carpet, do you want to buy it?" Now there was a stack of carpets in the window, he could see the top of them, with my height impairment.. I am looking at the edges :grin
So I thought he was joking, and that they would be something gaudy.. But I went in to see the joke.. and no joke! they were a perfect match, a mixture of the pale beige and a darker beige. So we bought two of them for the doorways.
We drove home through historic Smithfield, and It looked so interesting that I would love to go back there again some time. Also, they have the Ava Gardner Museum there, and I have always thought that she was the most beautiful woman ever born.. So I would be interested is seeing it.
When we came home, we burned some steaks on the grill and our friends Tom and Lori came over for a minute and invited us to come over and use their hot tub. We agreed.. as long as they would then follow us back and play cards with us :lol
So we packed up the robes and swimsuits and drove over (5 min) and slid into that lovely warm water.
After that, I think we all could have took a nap.
True to their word, Tom and Lori followed us back and we spent a fun evening playing "George"
I think it was near 1 when we fell into bed.
Sunday morning we opted for a lighter breakfast, I had put on Raisin bread before going to bed, so it was warm and moist. We had that, and cereal and fruit.
Rick sat out on the deck and tried to finish the book that he was reading.
I decided it was time for a swim. I think I had got in either Friday or Saturday night real late, But now that the sun was shining, we all decided to take the plunge.
Now I see no use in prolonging the agony.. so although I do not dive or jump into a pool, I do get in fast, just down the ladder and get my shoulders under the water.
Rick followed me in, and I think it was a bit of a shock.
he even tried out for Fla Jacks job as pool boy...
Einstein had got down two of the float chairs, so after a swim around, I got in one, and Jeanie came out to take the other. her face when her feet hit the water :lol But better yet when she tried to get into the chair. her expression when her butt hit that cold water was a study.
Notice that she is still trying to ease down into the water :grin
But finally she was in, and after that.. she was in heaven. She floated around for ages.
Rick got out and read his book, and took a nap, and Einstein just fell into a lounger and was asleep in a flash.
We grilled chicken for dinner, Oh yes.. Rick and Jeanie had brought up this wonderful three fruit pie. In fact.. from now on, there is no admittance without it :lol
I had made a coconut cream pie, we had fresh strawberries, red grapes, blue bunny ice cream.. so we were set.
I LOVE Blue BONNET ice cream, but when I can not find it, this Blue BUNNY is a very good second choice.
Strangely enough, I do not care for the Eddies, Hagen das breyers etc. See, I do not even know how they spell their names, as I do not go looking for it :lol
We then sat around talking about cruises and the wonderful people we had met on them. So the names of Fleda and Dean came up.
As we think the world of them, and miss seeing them on cruises these days.
Einstein got the phone and put it on speaker and gave them a call. The 4 of us talked to them at length.
They are doing fine, Enjoying retirement, although they do keep busy with volunteer work etc.
here are a few photos of us while talking to them.
All in all, it was a very nice weekend.
