I am asking the sports experts here.. and you KNOW that is not me:smile:

I ask because about the only myth about Superbowl that proves true is the one about "if a team from the American football team wins, then the stock market goes down for the year. And if a team from the National Football whatever wins.. then the stock market goes up. 85% correct, and a better rating than a room full of stock market "experts"

I read that even if both teams are now a part of the same league.. breeding will out and that is what counts.. their roots.

I just want to know who to back

Ask E the original question but in the mean time

AFC-Colts-(the one with the horseshoe)

NFC-Saints

You are bringing another league into the equation.

Football? huh? Well I know the Saints will win because that's what Ellen DeGeneres said :egyptian: And I'm finished watching for a while but I enjoyed the Queen's rendition of America..cool. I may drop in at halftime but heck...we don't get all those fun commercials you get! Now what's this about football........I guess that makes me a rare person if I'm not one of the 800 million watching, eh? Go team....going to make dinner for the two upstairs watching. It'll be noisy for the next few hours...wanna come over for a cup of tea, Red Stripe?

Sue, I hope so too.
And you can see the commercials on the CBS website.. just look for the Superbowl commercials.
We loved the Denny's ones, as 'the girls" ( my sisters chickens) were well represented

I want to know why I can pick the winners of the Hockey teams in BSeabobs draw.. and I pick the saints... Yet I bet that if I put money down on one.. they would fail miserably:scratch:

While this is correct, there is something that you should know. The Indy Colts used to be the Baltimore Colts. And the Baltimore colts used to be in the NFL, when there was an a separate AFL. Once the leagues combined, it became the NFC and the AFC. To make the leagues even, three teams from the NFC were moved into the AFC. The Colts, the Steelers and the Browns. However, the browns that originally moved from the NFC to the AFC then moved to Baltimore in 1996 and became the Baltimore Ravens. The current Cleveland Browns are a new team created in 1999.

Of course, NONE of the original teams are around today...If any of those guys are still alive, would be WAY too old to play football...Bart Starr, the MVP of the first two Super Bowls is 76...

thank you for clearing that up:huh:

Understand that I was born without the sports gene.

I did hear one explanation.. that went something like this.

Once upon a time there was two leagues. AFL and NFL.. then they combined to become one league... but still play as separate units.. "Communities? conglomerates??
whatever.

So my understanding from that is..

when there were two leagues, the NFL played within their group until there was one winner left. The AFL played within their group until there was one winner left. then these two winners played for all the marbles.

Then they merged.

now.. the one conglomerate (AFL) plays within their group until there is one winner left.. the second conglomerate plays within their group until there is one winner left. Then the winners from these two groups play each other to see who wins all the marbles.

Actually Bart Star was number 15. Number 76 was Bob Skoronski.
